Every three years, the New Zealand Office for Catholic Education (NZCEO) organizes its convention, which brings together bishops (six dioceses), episcopal delegates for the Catholic schools, school heads, teachers and the employees of the institutions. There are about 60,000 students in Catholic schools in NZ, for a population of 4 million. This gathering is lived as a family celebration, like a reunion. This year in Wellington there were about 800 participants from the North Island and the South Island. Around their bishops, and speakers with incredible charisma, all the participants lived these three days of encounter in joy, hope, and faith. The Secretary general of the OIEC who came to represent all the Catholic schools in the world enjoyed a wonderful welcome thanks to the NZCEO, to Paul Ferris and Susan Apathy.
