Symposium of the Catholic schools of Lebanon
On 3 and 4 September, the annual conference of the General Secretariat of Catholic Schools of Lebanon (SGEC-L) was held in Zouk Mosbeh (Collège Notre Dame de Louaizé). The topic of this conference was “Educate together. The challenges of communion in the Catholic Schools in Lebanon”. The symposium was opened in the presence of the Cardinal Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and all the Orient, His Holiness Bechara Boutros Rahi. About 1000 people attended the meeting on the first day. It was talked a lot about networking and communion during this conference. Indeed, Catholic schools in Lebanon are going through a difficult period in their history, troubled by the promulgation of the famous Law 46 which imposes new salary scales for teachers. The symposium was an opportunity to become aware of a number of difficulties in the management of the network of Catholic schools in Lebanon, and to try to promote solutions to solve these difficulties.
