The members are divided into 4 categories:

• Constituent members: these are the national leaders appointed by the competent ecclesiastical authorities;
• Associate members: groups or associations who wish to collaborate actively with the Association;
• Corresponding members: those who wish to maintain correspondence with the Association;
• Honorary members.

CEAM aims to promote education in Africa and Madagascar. This advocacy work includes encouragement and support for educators and others involved in education, applied research, reflection and action. It also encourages collaboration and resource sharing among members and liaises on their behalf with other organisations and groups with similar objectives.
