Webinar ‘Education and Migration’

On Thursday 16 January, the Office International de l’Enseignement Catholique (OIEC) co-hosted an exciting webinar on ‘𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠’. The event brought together speakers and participants from across Europe to discuss access to formal and informal education for young migrants.

  • 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒃𝒚 𝑴𝒔 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆̀𝒗𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒚, Vice-President of the Conference of INGOs, and Mr Daniel Guéry, Vice-President of the Committee on Migration Issues.
  • 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝑰𝑬𝑪 𝒃𝒚 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆́ 𝑳𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒕𝒆, highlighting the key role of Catholic schools in the integration of migrant pupils.

      • In Austria, exemplary initiatives to welcome Syrian and Ukrainian refugees in Catholic schools.
      • In Scotland, the beautiful testimony of Emmanuella Victor-Asia, a young Nigerian migrant, highlighted the importance of diversity and solidarity in Catholic schools.
      • In France, a moving film on the integration of young migrants in Nantes.
  • 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝑻𝑫 𝑭𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 and TAPORI groups, highlighting innovative projects for informal education.
  • 𝑪𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑳𝒐𝒖𝒊𝒔-𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒆 𝑷𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒏, Secretary General of CEEC (OIEC Europe Region).
 
The discussion that followed provided an opportunity to reflect on the challenges and solutions for guaranteeing the right to education for all, while valuing cultural and religious diversity.
